School History
Education is considered to be the basic and most essential tool in the development and progress of any endeavor. With this and the fervent desire for the growth and development of the maritime and the then neophyte municipality of Basay, the local government headed by its town officials and in coordination with the Department of Education, Culture and Sports (DECS) administrators of the Division of Negros Oriental, established Basay National High School, formerly named Basay Municipal High School in 1971.
Basay Municipal High School started its noble task in educating and molding the youth with very limited resources. It began with only very few teachers, very inadequate facilities and instructional materials and with no school site of its own. It occupied the vacant lot adjacent to the municipal hall for about two (2) decades until it eventually acquired its school site at Daro, Nagbo-alao, Basay, Negros Oriental through the generosity and kindness of Mr. Carballo who donated the almost one (1) hectare parcel of land. With the construction of school buildings complete with instructional packages through the secondary Education Development Program (SEDP), the school gladly moved to its new school site in 1995.
Basay Municipal High School changed its status from a locally funded school to a nationally funded institution in the early 1990’s thus it has changed its name to Basay National High School. It continues its noble task in educating the youth and serves as a melting pot of secondary education of the municipality of Basay. From then on, Basay National High School continually produces a rising breed of professional and productive individuals representing the different fields of endeavors.
Through the dynamic and responsible management and supervision of its past and present school administrators and with the undying support of its very responsive stakeholders, Basay National High School continues to grow and is moving on its pursuit of the realization of its vision and mission.
