STATE OF THE SCHOOL ADDRESS 2014
“Everything the mind can conceive it can achieve”. Its two years now since I assume the office as Principal I of Basay National High School, two years of faithful leadership in one of the big schools, an implementing unit in the Division of Negros Oriental where full autonomy in financial and physical aspects were exercised. Guided by the principle of shared leadership, the school managed to make a big leap and even soar higher in two-year time. Its programs and projects, through strong linkages with its stakeholders, were successfully implemented as planned. All that have been conceived in the minds of the of the school administrator supported by the stakeholders, come to reality.
Basay National High School is a typical Public High School in the Division of Negros Oriental just like other high schools in some places in the Philippine Island. Majority of its students come from a low-income family, some students come to school with an empty stomach, others walked 10 to 15 km a day, some are dropping out because of poverty. There are shortages on chairs, learning materials, textbooks, physical facilities and shops. But along with these are the ardent dreams and aspirations in the hearts of every student to become better persons and productive individuals of the community- a challenge to every teacher how one can make a difference in the lives of these students.
To cater to the needs of these students, programs and projects were aligned with the goal of improving students’ academic achievement and school performance. To enumerate some of our programs we have SARDO, this is designed to save our students who are at risk of dropping out, to answer the students’ health and nutrition problem the school initiated Feeding Program to some selected students. The school is an awardee of its Gulayan at Palaisdaan Alay sa Kabataan Program where fresh vegetables and other agricultural products are utilized and has sustained the school’s Feeding Program. To keep our school clean and beautiful, LIFT ME UP PROGRAM is well supported by the teachers. The school supports BRIGADA ESKWELA PROGRAM and has gained 100% support from parents done not only at the start but even throughout the end of the school year. Basay National High school is tag as the best Brigada Implementer for the last two consecutive years in the Division level and rank fifth in the Regional level. The I-Learn Program of the ICT introduces the advances of the new technology to Basay NHS students to give them ease and comfort and even make friends with the new technology gadgets.
Aside from these programs, the school with the support from the LGU, PTA, and other stakeholders, for the last two years, were able to put up the following projects:
1. Repair the School perimeter fence
2. Repair Comfort Rooms
3. Install water pipelines
4. Construct Handwashing facilities
6. Improve school landscape
7. Purchase grass cutter
8. Repair H.E. Room
9. Repair Bulletin Board
10. Construct School Signage
11. Repair Sound system
With these inputs and the capital we have put up, allow me to enumerate the tangible achievements we reap, the return of our investment in two years here in Basay National High School, which were made possible through the concerted efforts of the teachers, staff, parents PTA officers, LGU and other stakeholders
